Heading into the eye of the storm

I know we’ve complained quite a bit about the lousy weather we’ve had in New England this spring, but I think we can all agree it’s nothing compared to the devastating storms they’re currently experiencing in the middle of the country. In addition to the tornado which recently tore through Joplin, Mo., severe weather has… Continue reading »

My bags are packed, I’m ready to go …

It’s been almost three weeks since the Revs were last on the road, but today the bags are packed once again as the team takes off for the West Coast to prepare for a Saturday night meeting with the San Jose Earthquakes. A brief two-game home-stand to start the month of May was successful in many… Continue reading »

Let’s keep it rolling

It’s only been two days since the Revolution staged a late comeback to claim a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City this past Saturday night at Gillette Stadium, but the club hit the road early this morning ahead of tomorrow night’s U.S. Open Cup play-in match against D.C. United. The flight from Boston to our Nation’s… Continue reading »

Welcome to Boston, Benny!

Earlier today the New England Revolution announced the club has acquired U.S. National Team midfielder Benny Feilhaber via Major League Soccer’s Allocation Process. Feilhaber – who has made 38 appearances with the U.S., including three at the 2010 FIFA World Cup – is expected to join his new teammates for training on Friday and be available for selection… Continue reading »

Touched down in Texas

It feels a bit like we were just in Texas. In truth, we were, albeit briefly. We made pit stops in Dallas en route to and from Vancouver a couple weeks ago, but we barely got a hint of the scorching Texas heat as we rushed from gate to gate to catch the second leg… Continue reading »

Let’s get this show on the road

I’m going to keep this brief since it’s currently 11:15 p.m. PT, which means it feels like 2:15 a.m. to those of us who just arrived from the East Coast. The Revs have safely landed in southern California ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the LA Galaxy following a late afternoon flight from Logan to… Continue reading »

Georgia Notebook: Saturday, March 12

Better late than never, right? After more than a week of unseasonably cold temperatures and perpetually cloudy skies, the weather gods finally shined on Kennesaw, Ga., this morning. The temps have pushed into the lower-70s and there’s not a cloud in the sky, making for an ideal day here in the Northwest suburbs of Atlanta.… Continue reading »

Georgia Notebook: Friday, March 11

After the players were given yesterday off to recover from Wednesday night’s frustrating loss to the Columbus Crew, the Revs resumed their normal schedule this morning with a 10 a.m. training session on the campus of Kennesaw State University. The Revs are now in the final stages of preseason preparation as they’ll wrap up their… Continue reading »

Georgia Notebook: Tuesday, March 8

I contemplated opening this blog post with another whiny rant about how cold it is in Georgia, but I don’t think it would make for very compelling reading. Here’s the abridged version of what would have been my typed tirade: Today was supposed to be beautiful with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s. It… Continue reading »

Georgia Notebook: Monday, March 7

Just as many of you headed back to work this Monday morning, so too did the Revs with a light training session following yesterday afternoon’s 2-1 win over the Columbus Crew. Typically the players are off the day after a game, but with a rematch against the Crew scheduled for Wednesday night, it was necessary… Continue reading »

Georgia Notebook: Saturday, March 5

Remember yesterday when I said we were expecting Georgia to be a little warmer than mid-40s with chilly wind gusts? Well, at least yesterday it wasn’t raining. Truth be told, I can’t complain. Today’s elements weren’t so bad for those of us huddled under the Kennesaw State University Owls tent located on the sidelines, but… Continue reading »

Georgia Notebook: Friday, March 4

You know that quote from Dumb and Dumber when Jeff Daniels says, “I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this,” as they unknowingly drive through the plains of Nebraska? We had a similar reaction upon waking up this morning to overcast skies, strong wind gusts and temperatures in the mid-40s. We… Continue reading »
