Settling into another home-away-from-home

After what was essentially a brief pit stop to recharge in Foxborough, the Revs are on the road again. The club’s players and traveling staff boarded a plane to Atlanta early this afternoon and touched down in Georgia just before 3 p.m. following a smooth two-hour flight. In fact, we actually landed about 15 minutes ahead of schedule and… Continue reading »

Orlando Notebook: Tuesday, Feb. 22

With their 11-day preseason trip to Orlando winding down, the Revs conducted their final training session on the campus of the University of Central Florida this morning amidst the hottest temperatures we’ve experienced since arriving last week. I understand we’ll get no sympathy from those of you reading this back in the wintry Northeast, but… Continue reading »

Orlando Notebook: Sunday, Feb. 20

After taking yesterday off to recover from Friday night’s 2-0 win over the University of Central Florida, the Revs returned to training this morning with an energetic 90-minute workout on the campus of UCF. From a weather standpoint, extended periods of blazing sun were spotted with intervals of complete cloud cover, providing some pretty noticeable… Continue reading »

Orlando Notebook: Thursday, Feb. 17

The Revolution’s preseason training camp in Orlando continued with a third consecutive day of training on Thursday morning. That routine will be broken on Friday, as the Revs will battle their hosts at the University of Central Florida at 7 p.m. As the Revs gear up for tomorrow night’s match, here are some notes from… Continue reading »

Orlando Notebook: Wednesday, Feb. 16

Day two of the Revolution’s preseason trip to Orlando is in the books after another energetic session on the campus of the University of Central Florida this morning. Today’s weather included periods of sun and clouds, with temperatures ranging from “super hot” when the sun was out to “pretty warm” when it fell behind the… Continue reading »

Orlando Notebook: Tuesday, Feb. 15

With all due respect to the last two weeks of indoor training at the Dana-Farber Field House, now it feels like soccer season. The Revs got outside for the first time in the 2011 preseason this morning, running through an extended training session under sunny skies at the University of Central Florida. It was ideal… Continue reading »

Sunshine State of Mind

I admit the image of the palm tree used in this blog post is not an original Jeff Lemieux photograph, but rather it was pulled off Google Images. For all I know, it might not even be a Florida palm tree (in fact, I’m pretty positive it isn’t given the context of the picture). But… Continue reading »

Fun with schedule quirks (2011 edition)

It’s finally time to bust out your calendars and start marking some dates, because the complete 2011 MLS regular-season schedule is here. Or more importantly, the complete 2011 New England Revolution regular-season schedule is here, meaning players, coaches, staff members and fans alike can finally begin mapping out their lives for the next nine months. Planning… Continue reading »

Icy weather puts training on hold

It’s a good thing the Revs will be off to warmer climates in 12 days. The hazardous weather conditions currently engulfing New England forced the club to cancel today’s scheduled training session, which would’ve been the Revolution’s third of the preseason after opening camp on Monday morning. Instead, the Revs will return to training on… Continue reading »

Draft season comes to a close

Were there enough drafts for you this offseason? Between the MLS Expansion Draft, two stages of the Re-Entry Process, the SuperDraft and the Supplemental Draft, there were five (FIVE!) separate drafts from late November to mid-January. That’s considerably more than last season, when only two drafts (expansion and SuperDraft) occupied our time. The last of… Continue reading »

Additions and subtractions

As the 2011 season inches closer – players report to Foxborough for the start of preseason training camp in two weeks on Monday, Jan. 31 - the Revolution’s roster is beginning to take shape as the club looks to erase the memory of last year’s playoff-less campaign. Last week the Revs added French defender Didier Domi and SuperDraft… Continue reading »

The calm before the storm

If you’ve watched the news recently – or read a newspaper, used the internet, or spoken to a fellow human being – you might’ve heard about an impending snow storm making its way up the East Coast. Something about 10-15 inches of snow in the Boston area, not to mention 15+ inches in Foxborough? Unsurprisingly,… Continue reading »
