As we hit midweek and the Revs continue their preseason training, two stories are highlighted in today’s news. News and Observer staff writer Anna Kim wrote a feature on Revs rookie and Wake Forest alum Zack Schilawski’s college career and his goals for the future.
In addition, MLSNet’s Kyle McCarthy contributed an article on Shalrie Joseph and his growing leadership role with the team as they look for him to help fill the void left by Ralston and Heaps.

Newsstand - February 15, 2010
Written by supahrevs on February 15, 2010 – 10:02 am -
Good Monday morning! We hope that you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day and are continuing the celebration by sleeping in this morning and enjoying another day of relaxation in honor of Presidents Day. However, with the 2010 MLS season on the horizon, the Revs don’t have the luxury of taking extra days off and are back at work this morning with another training session in the Dana-Farber Field House.
It was a quiet weekend in terms of Revolution and MLS news, but Ridge Mahoney provided us with a very informative story in Soccer America, in which he touched on Chilean trialist Reinaldo Navia and the club’s preseason plans.
Additionally, it was noted by the Boston Herald’s Inside Track that the Rev Girls are holding their second annual tryouts this Saturday, Feb. 20, at Gillette Stadium. For full information, see the club’s official press release here.

Newsstand - February 12, 2010

The big news this morning once again centers around the ongoing MLS labor negotiations, which have been extended for a second time, with the deadline now stretching an additional two weeks to Feb. 25. The most recent CBA expired on Jan. 31, but the sides agreed to extend the negotations through today. The inclement weather in the D.C. area prevented the sides from meeting face-to-face on Wednesday, however, prompting the agreement to continue negotiations another two weeks.

With an impending snow storm set to batter the Northeast in the coming hours, Revs fans might need some reading material to keep themselves occupied until it’s safe to go back outside (which, if you trust the weathermen, might not be until tomorrow morning).

With the Revolution off this past weekend following the first week of preseason training, there’s not much today in terms of Revs-specific news - although that should kick up today as new assistant coach Stephen Myles joins up for his first training session and Chilean forward Reinaldo Navia begins his three-day trial.

If you’ve been following the Revs this week, you know that it’s been a pretty busy past few days in terms of news. In the last 48 hours, the club has released its full 2010 schedule and hired a new assistant coach (Stephen Myles). On the player personnel front, Kevin Alston was called up to the U.S. National Team (again), Matt Reis had surgery on his left knee (not expected to keep him out any longer than his previous shoulder surgery) and Amaechi Igwe was waived. Additionally, it was learned that Chilean forward Reinaldo Navia will join the Revs for a three-day trial beginning on Monday.
All that news - and more - is disussed in today’s newsstand.
