After taking two days to recover from last Sunday afternoon’s thrilling 2-1 victory over the Fire, the entire squad was back on the training field this morning to begin preparing for the decisive second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series on Saturday night in Chicago. While everyone is pleased with the home victory in the first leg - and the one-goal advantage that came with it - every single player and staff member is fully aware that there are 90 more minutes (or more) of hard-fought soccer to be played on Saturday night before the job is done.

Playoffs in these parts means heightened attention from the local media - both sports and general news - and this week things have picked up significantly after the team’s massive 2-1 win over Chicago in Game 1 of the teams’ Eastern Conference Semifinal Series last Sunday.

As the second weekend of the MLS Cup Playoffs creeps closer, the media continues to speculate about influential factors and potential outcomes. USA Today’s Beau Dure asserts that because only nine points separated Supporters Shield winner Columbus from final wild card Salt Lake this season, higher-seeded teams shouldn’t feel too comfortable going into the second legs of the Conference Semifinal Series. The Goal.com staff do their share of prognosticating in this week’s edition of Editors’ Roundtable, and general consenus has the Revs with the advantage going into Saturday’s matchup.
