After a conditioning session this morning and a two-hour break for lunch and recuperation, the action heated up at the Revs’ second session this afternoon, as the team split into two squads and battled in a 10 vs. 10 scrimmage.
The field was a bit more compact than typically seen in a 10 vs. 10 scrimmage, as the space was about a 50 yard x 50 yard square, forcing the guys to move the ball quickly and often on the ground. In a tightly contested battle, the white team edged out the yellow team, 4-3, thanks to Taylor Twellman’s deciding goal - his second of the afternoon.
Other goalscorers for the victorious white team were Ryan Maxwell and Jay Heaps, who scored easily the goal of the afternoon on a 30-yard bomb from beyond the modified midfield stripe. The yellow team was led by two well taken goals from Wells Thompson and a sliding strike by Kheli Dube from Chris Salvaggione’s cross.
Tomorrow will once again just be a morning fitness session, but be sure to check out the video interviews with Heaps and Chris Albright from this morning’s session that were posted earlier today. Also, check in later this afternoon for staff predictions for tonight’s massive U.S. vs. Mexico World Cup Qualifier in Columbus.
