A message from Kheli

World Malaria DayWorld Malaria Day is coming up this Saturday, and together with MLS W.O.R.K.S. and Nothing But Nets, the Revs are hoping to raise enough money to donate 100 nets to needy families in Africa. For those of who you did not know, Sanna Nyassi - Sainey’s identical twin brother - contracted malaria and successfully battled back to full health. This is a cause that is near and dear to not only MLS’ heart, but also the Revs’ heart.

The following message is from Kheli Dube, the team’s Nothing But Nets spokesperson:

Dear Revs Fans,

I am teaming up with Toronto FC’s Dwayne De Rosario and MLS W.O.R.K.S. to help spread the word about the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign to save lives by preventing malaria.

World Malaria Day – Saturday, April 25th – is around the corner and Nothing But Nets needs our help. Every 30 seconds a child dies of malaria and the disease is the number one cause of death of refugees in Africa. People who are fleeing their homes due to crisis or persecution are dying from a mosquito bite!

But we can help! Join the Revs’ online team and help us save lives! For every $10 we donate, Nothing But Nets can purchase and distribute a life-saving bed net, as well as educate the recipients on its use. Send a net. Save a life.

Dwayne and I are honored to be spokespeople for the Nothing But Nets campaign – a cause we can all be champions for!

Thanks.
Kheli

P.S. Making a donation to Nothing But Nets gives you a chance to win a trip for two to MLS CUPâ„¢ 2009 in Seattle! Visit www.nothingbutnets.net/mlsworks to learn more!

What a great idea! Even a donation of a dollar or two would add up quickly…would it be possible to have collection stations at the stadium (or the pro shop) during Revs games??

  2. Nathan Witcraft Says:

It would have been nice for the Revs to support my school’s fundraiser for Nothing But Nets while the team was down in NC… we raised over $1,500 no thanks to the Revs!
