Injury Report - April 21

Tuesdays and Fridays have unfortunately become very important days for the Revolution, as it’s on these two days every week that we announce another injury report. It’s been a tough start to the season for the Revs in terms of injuries, but it’s been quite the opposite on the field, as the team just keeps racking up the points and is still undefeated through four games.
Luckily, the injury report is improving, slowly but surely. While there are nine names on today’s list, there has been significant progress in the recoveries of many of the players.
Here is the official New England Revolution injury report for Tuesday, April 21:
PROBABLE: Jeff Larentowicz (R hip impingement), Steve Ralston (R adductor strain), Matt Reis (R knee inflammation)
QUESTIONABLE: Kheli Dube (R knee pain)
OUT: Chris Albright (L lateral meniscus tear), Kevin Alston (R hamstring strain), Gabriel Badilla (lower back sprain), Mauricio Castro (L hamstring strain), Taylor Twellman (neck pain)
Off the list is Wells Thompson, who has fully recovered from right ankle sprain and was fit enough to play the full 90 minutes - not to mention, help set up the Revolution’s goal - against D.C. United last Friday night.
The only addition is thankfully a minor one, as captain Steve Ralston is listed as probable with a right adductor strain. Although the veteran midfielder finds his name back on the injury list a bit sooner than he would’ve hoped, Ralston did take part in full training today.
Upgraded from questionable to probable are Jeff Larentowicz (R hip impingement) and Matt Reis (R knee inflammation), who both participated in the entire training session this morning. Larentowicz passed a late fitness test and started against D.C. last Friday night, battling through 87 minutes before finally succumbing to cramps. The good news for the fifth-year midfielder is that a recent scan of his hip  revealed no tears, and with his upgrade on the injury report, it appears as if he’s recovering nicely. Reis has missed three straight games but was available on the bench for the last two, and with his full participation in training today, he appears to be nearing a full recovery.
The only downgrade on the list is Kheli Dube, who is actually there with a completely different injury. After overcoming a concussion and playing the final 30 minutes against D.C., Dube finds himself back on the injury report listed as questionable with right knee pain. Dube was at Gillette Stadium to receive treatment this morning, but did not take part in training.
There was positive news for both Kevin Alston (R hamstring strain) and Mauricio Castro (L hamstring strain) today, despite the fact that both are still listed as out. The pair ran through fitness drills with head athletic trainer Sean Kupiec, while they even passed the ball back and forth for a while. Castro then stayed on for a bit after training was done to take a few shots on goal.
As was first reported on Friday, Chris Albright has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee, an injury which forced a late change to Friday night’s lineup. Albright will undergo surgery tomorrow (Wednesday, April 22), and an approximate timetable for his return is expected to be released shortly afterwards.
Both Taylor Twellman and Gabriel Badilla were at the stadium today but not on the field for training, as the pair aims to return from the injuries that have kept them out all season.
