injury_reportThere’s no question that the Revolution’s injury situation is improving daily, which is a welcome development around these parts. For the second straight time, the injury list has shortened from it’s last installment, as just six players find themselves on today’s list.

In terms of changes, one player has been taken off the list completely, while another has been upgraded.

Here’s the official injury report for Tuesday, May 12:

PROBABLE: Sainey Nyassi (L knee contusion), Zack Simmons (R hamstring strain)

OUT: Chris Albright (L lateral meniscus tear), Gabriel Badilla (bulging disk), Mauricio Castro (L hamstring strain), Taylor Twellman (neck pain)

The most encouring news from today’s injury report is the disappearance of Steve Ralston, who has fully recovered from a right adductor strain. Ralston appeared as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw at Chicago this past weekend, playing 30 minutes. After training full today and with an entire week of training still ahead, Ralston appears to be ready for increased action against Colorado this Saturday night.

Goalkeeper Zack Simmons is today’s upgrade, going from questionable to probable with a right hamstring strain. Simmons took full part in today’s training session and appears to be very close to full fitness.

Also listed as probable is Sainey Nyassi with a left knee contusion, and while the 20-year-old midfielder did not play this past weekend against Chicago, he was available on the bench and did train today with seemingly no ill effects.

The list of players who are out remains the same, although Taylor Twellman (neck pain) took another huge step towards full recovery as he took part in today’s entire training session. In perhaps the most encouraging sign of today’s session, Twellman did not play as the neutral during games - as he had in recent sessions - but rather played just as any other player with the possibility of contact.

Also outside at training today was Chris Albright, who is making a strong recovery from surgery to repair a left lateral meniscus tear. Albright made his way to the training field approximately halfway through the session and did some light jogging before getting some short passing in with head athletic trainer Sean Kupiec.

Gabriel Badilla (bulging disk) and Mauricio Castro (L hamstring strain) are both still out and continued their rehabilitation in the treatment room today.
