Injury Report - June 9

injury_reportIt wouldn’t be an earth-shattering revelation to point out that the Revolution’s recent resurgence has coincided with the shortening of the club’s injury list … but I’ll do it anyway. As the number of names on the injury report shrinks, the number of points in the standings increases, as the Revs have put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Today’s injury report remains the same as Friday’s, but considering the 4-0 result over the rival Red Bulls this past weekend, we’ll certainly take more of the same right now.

Here is the official New England Revolution injury report for Tuesday, June 9:

QUESTIONABLE: Taylor Twellman (neck pain)

DOUBTFUL: Chris Albright (L lateral meniscus surgery)

OUT: Gabriel Badilla (bulging disk), Mauricio Castro (L hamstring strain)

Sunday night was memorable (to say the least) for Taylor Twellman, who became the youngest (29 years, 100 days) and fastest (174 games) player to score 100 goals in Major League Soccer history. Although the Revolution’s all-time leading scorer was only able to go for 45 minutes, he bagged two goals in his first 20 minutes on the field and helped the Revs bury the Red Bulls with a powerful second-half performance. Twellman is still taking his progression day-by-day as he aims to continue working his way up to full, 100 percent fitness, and for that reason he remains “Questionable” on today’s report. The newly-minted 100-goal scorer was spotted at training today getting some work in despite pouring rain.

Chris Albright is once again listed as “Doubtful” as he recovers from surgery on the lateral meniscus in his left knee, but he continues to participate in full training as he pushes to return to the field. Now approximately seven weeks into the recovery and rehab period (estimated at 6-8 weeks), he appears to be right on schedule. Despite the slick surface at training today because of the rain, Albright participated in all team activities and his return to the fold appears to be imminent.

Gabriel Badilla continues to slowly increase his activity at training as he recovers from a back injury, and he was present at training today doing a bit of fitness work. The defender remains “Out.”

Mauricio Castro is also still “Out” with a left hamstring strain, and the Honduran midfielder was not outside at training today when we stopped by, as he was receiving treatment inside.
