Training Recap - June 11

Written by supahrevs on June 11, 2009 – 2:52 pm -

With tomorrow’s trip to Kansas City looming on the horizon, the Revs were back at it again today as they prepare for their fourth straight showdown with an Eastern Conference opponent. Saturday night’s meeting will be the last regular-season match for both clubs until July, as the Revs and Wizards are both part of Group B in SuperLiga 2009, which kicks off next weekend.

Despite ominous clouds lurking overhead, the rain held off and everyone stayed dry during today’s session, which lasted approximately an hour and a half.

Forward Kheli Dube - who was away last week as he returned to Zimbabwe because of a death in the family - has returned to New England and trained with the club the past two days. However, two popular faces were noticeably absent from today’s session: Shalrie Joseph and Taylor Twellman. Joseph was busy taking his citizenship test (he plans to be a U.S. citizen in the next week or so), while Twellman was out for the second straight day while continuing to regroup after his first two appearances of the year.

Today’s session involved quite a few different activities, including a new game in which the objective is to dribble the ball across the endline rather than shoot on goal. Of course, the team also played a bit of full-field 11 vs. 11 to prepare for Saturday night, while they ended with some crossing and finishing.

With the players and staff ready to head to Kansas City tomorrow, everyone’s eager to grab another positive result entering the three-week break from the MLS schedule for SuperLiga. As we prepare to visit the great Midwest, be sure to check out what Jay Heaps and Matt Reis have to say about Saturday night’s game in our RevsTV: KC Preview.
