Injury Report - June 19

With the Revs set to begin defense of their SuperLiga title just two days from now against Santos Laguna, a fully healthy squad would be ideal. Of course, injuries are a part of the game and the Revolution has certainly had its fair share throughout the season.
For the first time in recent memory, there’s been an addition to the injury report today, as the total number of players on the list jumps to five.
Here is the official New England Revolution injury report for Friday, June 19:
QUESTIONABLE: Shalrie Joseph (R knee sprain)
DOUBTFUL: Chris Albright (L lateral meniscus surgery)
OUT: Gabriel Badilla (bulging disk), Mauricio Castro (L hamstring strain), Taylor Twellman (neck/concussive symptoms)
Today’s addition is a notable one, as the Revolution’s current leading scorer - not to mention the leading goal-scorer in SuperLiga 2008 - Shalrie Joseph, finds his name on the list under “Questionable” with a right knee sprain. Joseph hasn’t trained all week but has been at the stadium receiving treatment, so we know he’s been getting the best care possible in an attempt to limit his time away from the field. With a hectic stretch of games coming up, Joseph’s presence will be key for the Revs.
Still “Doubtful” is Chris Albright, who has also been unable to participate in the on-field training this week but has been in the treatment room. It originally appeared as if Albright would return on schedule from surgery on the lateral meniscus in his left knee (which was performed about eight weeks ago), but after a slight setback, it’ll take a bit more time for a full return to the field.
The case of Gabriel Badilla has been the most encouraging out of Revs camp this week, as the Costa Rican defender aims to return from a bulging disk in his back. Although Badilla is still listed as “Out,” he has begun participating in team activities at training and hasn’t appeared to be too hampered by his injury. After taking part in possession games yesterday, Badilla played in a small-sided scrimmage style game today and is pushing closer to a return to fitness.
Also “Out” is Mauricio Castro, who’s dealing with a difficult left hamstring strain. Castro was in training gear at yesterday’s session but was limited to stretching, while he spent today in the treatment room getting worked on.
Revolution all-time leading scorer Taylor Twellman remains “Out” with persistent symptoms relating to the severe whiplash he sustained last season. As have the rest of his injured teammates, Twellman has been at the stadium to receive treatment but has been unable to join the team on the training field.
