SuperLiga provides a new look …

superligaballsmall2While the Revs will run up against some unfamiliar opponents from the Mexican Primera Division in the upcoming SuperLiga 2009 tournament - which begins for the Revolution on Sunday night - they’ll also be dealing with something else they’re not used to throughout the competition: a new ball.

As you may have noticed in some pictures posted of trialist Edgaras Jankauskas earlier in the week, a special ball will be used in all SuperLiga matches with new coloring (black and red) and a SuperLiga logo. The ball is in fact the same design that is used in MLS regular-season games, so the adjustment is ever so minor, but even still it provides quite a different look for viewers.

Here’s a closeup shot of the new SuperLiga ball …

Well since its really the same ball, just different colors, I can really love or hate it. I think it looks fine, and its nice that there is a dedicated ball for Superliga just like other major tournaments.
