Revolution Newsstand - October 27

Revolution NewsstandNow that everyone’s had a chance to digest the results from last weekend which finally established pairings for the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs, it’s time to look ahead to those matchups and analyze what will go down during the next two weeks.

You know what - let’s look back at last weekend one more time. After his first goal of the season essentially locked up a postseason berth for the Revs, steadfast central midfielder Jeff Larentowicz was selected as Goal.com’s player of the week for the final round of the regular season. Congratulations, Jeff.

Now, on to the playoffs …

Steve Davis breaks down the postseason picture for two different outlets today. On ESPN Soccernet, he analyzes each playoff team with reasons why they might win MLS Cup, why they probably won’t, and an X factor. For MLSnet.com, he focuses on the age old adage that defense wins championships.

The end of the regular season also provides us with the final sets of power rankings, and both ESPN Soccernet and Kyle McCarthy at Goal.com have the Revolution at No. 7 - the club’s final position in the regular-season table.
