Revolution NewsstandWhile the majority of the focus during the postseason is about team-wide performances - and rightly so - every now and then it’s necessary to recognize the fantastic contributions of individual players. For the first time in four years - and just the third time in club history - a Revolution player is one of three finalists for the league’s most valuable player award, as Shalrie Joseph joins the LA Galaxy’s Landon Donovan and FC Dallas’ Jeff Cunningham in the running for Volkswagen MLS MVP. Both the Boston Herald and the Associated Press covered the story this morning.

As for league-wide analysis of the postseason, Steve Davis focuses on some of the oddities that the opening weekend of postseason action provided on ESPN Soccernet. Davis also put together a piece for MLSnet.com, this time concentrating on the influence head coaches had on last weekend’s results.

Conor Nevins (ESPN Soccernet) has his analysis of each first-leg match and his predictions for the second legs, and Revs fans will like what he has to say. Similary, Kyle McCarthy has his weekly rankings (with a twist for the postseason), and he believes the Revs have the best chance to hold on to their one-goal advantage.

Finally, Taylor Twellman received a mention in the Boston Herald’s Inside Track today, as the Revolution’s all-time leading scorer bought lunch for a group of fans who were in line behind him at Subway on Sunday afternoon.
