Injury Report and Training Recap - November 3
Written by supahrevs on November 3, 2009 – 1:16 pm -
Just as it was throughout the regular season, the injury report will continue to be an important part of each week throughout the postseason. As the Revs prepare to maintain their one-goal advantage entering the second leg of their Eastern Conference Semifinal Series against the Fire, they’ll also need to maintain their health.
Today’s injury report has a couple of minor additions and a couple of subtractions.
Here is the official New England Revolution injury report for Tuesday, Oct. 3:
PROBABLE: Jeff Larentowicz (R knee bone bruise)
QUESTIONABLE: Edgaras Jankauskas (illness), Brad Knighton (illness)
OUT: Chris Albright (L lateral meniscus tear), Gabriel Badilla (R quad strain), Steve Ralston (R ACL tear), Taylor Twellman (concussion)
Off the list are both Kevin Alston (L foot contusion) and Kheli Dube (L adductor strain), who had been listed as “Probable” in the most recent injury report. Both Alston and Dube played the full 90 minutes in last Sunday afternoon’s playoff opener against Chicago and neither showed any effects of their injuries.
Added to the list are Edgaras Jankauskas (illness) and Gabriel Badilla (R quad strain). Jankauskas is listed as “Questionable” after leaving Sunday afternoon’s game in the 52nd minute because of his illness, while Badilla is “Out” with a right quad strain suffered in training.
Also suffering from an illness and listed as “Questionable” as a result is backup goalkeeper Brad Knighton, who had previously been listed as “Probable” with lumbar disc irritation.
Jeff Larentowicz remains “Probable” with pain in his right knee, but the fifth-year midfielder has proven that the injury certainly isn’t slowing him down with a pair of massive perfomances in the last two games.
“Out” are Chris Albright (L lateral meniscus tear), Steve Ralston (R ACL tear) and Taylor Twellman (concussion), although all three were at the stadium this past weekend to cheer on their team and give encouragement to the boys in the locker room.
Today’s training session was reserved only for those players who did not start last Sunday afternoon against Chicago, but the central midfield duo of Shalrie Joseph and Larentowicz were both present anyway. Joseph participated in passing drills and a couple games of possession before heading inside, while Larentowicz stayed loose and did some light work on the side.
Passing drills today were intricate, as usual, focusing first on maintaining close control before moving into a series of one-touch drills. Small-sided possession games followed for the majority of the session.
After two days to recover from the first-leg victory, the entire squad will be back on the training field tomorrow morning as preparation for the second leg kicks into full gear.
