The Major League Soccer season is coming to its end, and the weekend was an exciting one in the world of the MLS Cup Playoffs. Both Los Angeles and Real Salt Lake won matches in exciting fashion to move into MLS Cup ‘09. Across the media today, Kyle McCarthy files his Monday MLS Breakdown for Goal.com, reflecting on the conference finals and looking ahead to MLS Cup. Also a good read is Steve Davis’ MLS Conference Finals Review for ESPNSoccernet.com, where he looks at those who made an impact throughout the two matches this past weekend.

Casey Connor is thinking about leaving Colorado? Let’s get him here! Reference to ESPN article today.
Even if Twellman comes back (which still seems like an awefully big gamble until he’s played a couple of cames and gets punched/elbowed in the head a couple of times) we need a big man in the air up front. Shalrie showed us that we can be really successful in the air with the talent we’ve got on the flanks and Jankauskas didn’t step up like we needed him to when it came time to score. I say pursue this if he’s really available!!!

Heck, take a page out of the Celetics notebook and get some players working on this too. Get Shalrie and Reis on the phone talking to Casey in person. Send one of them to Colordo in person to talk with him. We’re sooo close to be a real contender for a championship again. A strong striker up front and we’ll be one of the most dangerous teams in MLS hands down. The defense and midfield are solid for several more years. Time to solidify the front line. It’s also time to turn the tide on the old Chicago Playoff scorecard.

Anything but a third mediocre season in a row!

I always liked Casey’s playing style but I think Pat Noonan may have a chance of coming back as well. I think the Revs will be an outstanding team next year, so long as everyone is healthy and we do well in the draft.

I like Twellman a lot, as much as anyone in MLS. But he’s hurt, may not come back, or will never be the same. REVs don’t have a true forward. We need someone. I don’t have time to watch these mediocre games, esp. 15 of them w/ my season passes.
