Training recap- April 23

The Revolution wrapped up its week of training with a 75-minute session Friday morning on the Gillette Stadium Field. The Revs got in four days of training this week in anticipation of Saturday night’s match-up with the Colorado Rapids at 7:30. The Rapids, who flew in last night, train Friday afternoon on the Gillette Stadium Field. Revs’ training session was light today, with jog, stretch and diamond passing followed by a little full field 11v11.

The 11v11 full field scrimmage included a curious back line for the squad in pinnines: head coach Steve Nicol, goalkeepers coach Remi Roy, guest goalkeeper Tim Murray and Khano Smith. The lone goal in the scrimmage came for the blue team when Sainey Nyassi scored on a laser from 25 yards out to beat Bobby Shuttleworth. A light moment came after that goal, with assistant coach Steve Myles mock-yelling at Remi Roy because he did not drop in to defend Nyassi.

Preston Burpo also made a spectacular save for the blues on Nico Colaluca, a sprawling stop at practically point-blank range. Some players stuck around for some shooting before cool-down stretch. Tomorrow’s game marks a point for the Revs to climb back above .500 and gain some momentum for this three-game home stand against Western Conference foes. The team has a busy month of May coming up, so it would certainly like to wrap up April on the upswing.

Hey Revs, I wish you all the best for your match against Colorado. Last week’s performance wasn’t the best, but your performance against D.C. and especially Toronto was simply astonishing, so get back to those matches. You all have the potential and with Jankauskas and Colaluca back from injury, you have some dangerous joker player on the bench. And who knows, probably Zach Schilawski gets another hattrick.

    Best wishes from Switzerland
