I know there’s a pretty big soccer game going on Saturday afternoon. Of course, that’s when the United States meets Ghana in the Round of 16 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. But I’m just as amped for what’s going to take place on Sunday night here at Gillette Stadium, when the Revs return to league action against perhaps their most heated rival, the Chicago Fire.

When the Cold War Kids released their second studio album Loyalty to Loyalty in 2008, the song “Hospital Beds” instantly stood out to me for its fantastic chorus, the lyrics of which are listed above. Now I know Cold War Kids didn’t have the Revolution’s rivalry with the Chicago Fire in mind when they wrote this song, but I can’t help but picture a crowd of Revs supporters chanting this song every time I hear it.

My only issue with the lyric is that it says, “Put out the fire on us,” which would almost indicate that the Fire had engulfed the Revolution, which would clearly never happen. But that line, “Bring your buckets by the dozens, bring your nieces and your cousins” … I just love it with regards to this rivalry.

So, as we gear up for Sunday night’s showdown, I wanted to share the song with you. If you’re not interested in listening to the entire song - brilliant though it may be - fast forward to the 1:40 mark for the chorus.

What do you think? It might be a little late for Sunday’s game, but could this be modified to become a chant at some point in the future? Has anybody else even heard of Cold War Kids?
