Stolica in, Alston and Perovic out for D.C.

A quick update ahead of tomorrow night’s massive Eastern Conference showdown with bitter rival D.C. United …

Serbian forward Ilija Stolica has received his U.S. P-1 Visa and is scheduled to fly from Europe to Boston later this evening. He will be available for selection tomorrow night against D.C., although he’ll obviously have just stepped off the plane and won’t have the benefit of a training session with his new teammates ahead of the game. Even still, with the Revs short on numbers, it’s likely Stolica will dress and Steve Nicol didn’t rule out the possibility of using him if needed.

Unfortunately, both Kevin Alston (mild L hamstring strain) and Marko Perovic (L calf strain) will miss the D.C. game as a result of the knocks they picked up Wednesday night against Puebla. It’s been said that neither of the injuries are long-term so there’s hope this will be the only game they miss, but their absence will certainly be felt by the Revs.

We’ll have a video preview with Nicol, Chris Tierney and Zack Schilawski later today, plus a full written preview.

  1. Kelly says:

Man I love Kevin…Hate it when he does not play!!

  2. ryan says:

For the back four sonovic for alston osie and barns in the middle and gibbs on the left. Or go with the three of barns osie and gibbs with three forwards having the new guy up top

  3. Cyrill says:

    Hey guys,

First, I’d like to wish you all the best for your game against DC. It’s obviously not necessary to mention the importance of this game and a victory. You guys performaned well at Super Liga, so take this spirit into the DC match.
I hope that Ilija Stolic will play in that game and make a good effort. He could be a good joker as substitute.

    So, best wishes from Switzerland
