On Friday night, Revolution Investor/Operator Jonathan Kraft called in to the D.A. Show on 98.5 The Sports Hub, hosted by Revs sideline reporter Damon Amendolara, to talk about the Revs and the World Cup bids, among other topics as part of DA’s “12 DAs of Christmas” series – the 12 biggest sports stories in the Hub.
You can listen to the full interview here (starting at the 39:00 mark), but some of the talk about a soccer stadium for the Revs begins at the 50:00 mark.
Some excerpts from Kraft about a potential soccer stadium for the Revs:
“We continue to stay focused on it. It’s the highest off-the-field priority for the team.”
“From our perspective, we would hope in the next 12-24 months we would have something we would be breaking ground on … ”
“Our fan base is awesome. They deserve it.”

I want to believe, but I’ve been disappointed too many times to get my hopes up. I’ll believe it when I see it.

From my perspective, I would hope in the next 19 days I would have the flying battle-unicorn with lazer-beam eyes that I’ve been asking Santa Claus for over the past 40 years.
I mean, I’ve been an awesone boy. I deserve it.
In other words… I’ll believe it when they stick shovels in the ground. Until then, it is just more Kraft family lip-service regarding the Revolution.
Words are cheap. Let’s see some action.

The now seven year, semi-annual, just in time for season ticket renewal, SSS bone throw.
I must admit. It was a good toss.

Sounds interesting, but it’s sounded interesting the other 4 or 5 times Jonathan Kraft and other members of the front office have said they were “looking into” or “intrigued by” an urban SSS. Let’s see some renderings, let’s see some sort of plan, if you’re only 2 years out at maximum surely you’ve got something you can show us, the fans, don’t you?

I believe that a new SSS Soccer stadium should be built in the Braves stadium with little renovation which will only cost around 35 million just like the PGE stadium is being renovated for the Portland timbers and the location would be great in the center of Boston.

You’re about 55 years too late — old Braves Stadium was demolished to make way for BU’s Nickerson Field.

I meant to say the current Bu’s Nickerson Field could be purchade and renovated and share the BU’s Nickerson Field with the New Revolution soccer team in the center of Boston.

I agree with you Jorge that a renovated soccer stadium could be cheaper to build than starting from scratch by buying the land and constructing the entire infrastructure for a new SSS stadium. Also to share an American football field in the same location with a soccer field would be a great idea and the fact that the Nickerson field is located in the center of Boston where commuting would become much easier and will help to bring new fans such as university students which that location is full off will definitive increase the New Revolution Soccer fans tremendously.
