Earlier today the New England Revolution announced the club has acquired U.S. National Team midfielder Benny Feilhaber via Major League Soccer’s Allocation Process. Feilhaber – who has made 38 appearances with the U.S., including three at the 2010 FIFA World Cup – is expected to join his new teammates for training on Friday and be available for selection when the Revs host Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.
The fan response to the signing has been massive, so here’s yet another chance to say … welcome to Boston, Benny!

At last – someone with youth and genuine class coming into the team. I am happy with Domi (Dabo to be determined), but Benny has class, appeal and young legs. He cannot fail but to make the Revs better. Lkic looks like a good signing and if only we had a winger of genuine class would I be truly happy. Was worried we were going to trade him, but he is here at least for the moment. Would love some suggestions of line ups once everyone is fit…
Makes Sat’s game that much more interesting.
Cheers

This deal was needed to bolster the midfield, now if they can only get Dabo on the field. If they do we will have Joseph, Dabo, Feilhaber and Phelan, as our midfield. Pretty solid. Also some thing had to be done after the loss to Houston with no Joseph and Phelan in the line-up, The Revs had no control of the ball or midfield.

This looks like a great move for the revs. I’d love to see him on the outside in front of Domi on the left with a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 line-up. Let’s take it to ‘em!

I am glad we did not trade him. Talented players in their prime like this don’t fall into our laps too often, if ever! Welcome to New England, Benny!

So I guess if we’re being asked to “welcome” him to the Revs via this blog by the Revs FO, then that must mean no trade is being considered.
Hopefully this will be a move that turns attitudes and things around on the field. Can’t wait!

I was reeeally hoping you would be heading towards Houston, my hometown…..so close! But I am definitely excited that you’ll be with the Revs. A new Feilhaber jersey will feel pretty good hanging next to my old Dempsey jersey. Look forward to seeing you play. Congratulations on the move, Benny-Man : )

Benny, it ain’t California but you’re a bit closer to home now
I hope you find that inside of our cavernous, half-filled stadium there’s a lot of die hard fans who will stand by this team no matter what (see: last season.)
GO REVS!

Welcome Benny! Please silence all those who hate on the Revs no matter what and say we should be moved or eliminated. Prove them wrong!

Love this, thanks Benny for coming back to the league, this will be a huge step for the revs to regain the level of play they have lost over the last couple of years. Absolutely huge.

Great pick-up on top of the addition of a proven scorer in Lekic. Now hopefully everyone can get healthy so we can see what the full team (really good on paper) is capable of.
Just wondering, are the Revs going to be having a press conference to announce this signing like we’ve seen from other teams (ie DC Charlie Davies, Portland Kenny Cooper)? Maybe Thursday afternoon or Friday after the training session, would be great publicity going into Saturday’s game.

Here I re worked the words to Bennie and the Jets to Benny and the Revs.
Hey Revs, shake it loose together
The spotlight’s hinting something
is going to change the league now
We’ll kill the other team tonight
So stick around
You’re gonna hear goals for the Revs
Solid walls of defense
chorus
Say, Sharlie and Matty have you seen him yet
But they’re so psyched out, B-B-B-Bennie and the Revs
Oh but they’re feared and they’re wonderful
Oh Bennie he’s really keen
he’s got soccer boots a tremendous kick
You know I read it in a magazine
B-B-B-Bennie and the Revs
Hey kids, stand up in the Fort
Maybe they’re blinded
But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our opponents out on the pitch
To find who’s right and who’s wrong
[repeat chorus]Say AJ and Franco have you seen him yet
But they’re so psyched out, B-B-B-Bennie and the Revs
Oh but they’re feared and they’re wonderful
Oh Bennie he’s really keen
he’s got soccer boots a tremendous kick
You know I read it in a magazine
B-B-B-Bennie and the Revs
[repeat chorus]Say Marco and Zach have you seen him yet
But they’re so psyched out, B-B-B-Bennie and the Revs
Oh but they’re feared and they’re wonderful
Oh Bennie he’s really keen
he’s got soccer boots a tremendous kick
You know I read it in a magazine
B-B-B-Bennie and the Revs

What else is there to say – WOW! The man was a game change for the revs. Not just a spark or flash of brilliance, the man was a dominant force in the middle for 90 min. I’m upping for season tix tomorrow. Thanks you for not trading him off to Houston or whereever!!!!!!!

Great debut for Benny! Not perfect but we will get there, get the kinks worked out etc. I just heard some bad news though that they might be releasing Stolica, I hope that isn’t true!

OT:
Will tuesdays USOC have video coverage? Radio is OK for baseball & football, sports where the announcer can relay the exact situtation(pitch count, down&distance), but not fluid sports like soccer.
(PS, your almost 2 weeks behind on listing the scores on the schedule page)

gb – There’ll be no video coverage of Tuesday’s game, just the radio call which you can catch here on revolutionsoccer.net.
