I know we’ve complained quite a bit about the lousy weather we’ve had in New England this spring, but I think we can all agree it’s nothing compared to the devastating storms they’re currently experiencing in the middle of the country. In addition to the tornado which recently tore through Joplin, Mo., severe weather has plagued the Midwest for days and will continue to do so as we progress throughout the week.
Of course, the Revs are headed that direction this afternoon as we depart for Kansas City and a U.S. Open Cup play-in match against Sporting KC, which will take place on Wednesday night at the Blue Valley District Activities Complex. Fans can watch the game beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET via live streaming video here on revolutionsoccer.net with commentary from Sporting’s Callum Williams and Revs play-by-play man Brad Feldman.
In the meantime, we’re keeping our eye on the weather as strong storms are expected on-and-off throughout the night in Missouri, which hopefully won’t delay our arrival into the Show Me State. Storms seem likely throughout the day on Wednesday, as well, meaning things could get interesting for the 7:30 p.m. local time kickoff between the Revs and SKC.
Either way, we’ll be with the team in KC to cover the proceedings, beginning with Revolution Soccer Gameday on Wednesday afternoon. Until then, check out preview coverage of the match on revolutionsoccer.net, including video with head coach Steve Nicol and midfielders Ryan Kinne and Pat Phelan.
